Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Blackhawk (WPIAL Quarter Finals)

Warriors Win: 15.00 - 14.00

The second round of WPIAL playoffs commenced tonight with the Warriors welcoming the Blackhawk Cougars onto the field. It was a heated matchup straight out of the gate. Sophia Green got the ball rolling when she planted the first goal of the night into the net. Avery Bosack and Georgia Vislocky each followed up with a goal, giving PT the lead. Annabelle Aquino managed to sneak in a twizzler as the Blackhawk defense descended upon her. Ayla Moffa had the last goal of the quarter bringing the score to a 5-4.

The second quarter proved to be as much of a contest as the first. It was a battle of physicality and the Warriors came out on top. Defensive Midfielder, Adalyn Hawk, soared over the field as she locked down the Cougars number one offensive player. Defender, Mary Brobst, came in clutch with two huge interceptions that turned in the favor of the Warriors, giving the offensive end of the field an opportunity to score. Versatile midfielder/defender, Maura Spadone held her stance and positioned herself strong against the Blackhawk offense while defenders Ceci Doughty and Gianna Botti contained Blackhawk’s high powered offense. Bosack had a sweet assist to Sophia Green to kick off the quarter. Attacker, Georgia Vislocky, scored a clutch one on one goal followed by a well timed assist to Lily Crenshaw. With a score of 8-6, Crenshaw landed another one in the net with an assist from Bosack, bringing the score to 9-7 at the half.

Blackhawk entered the third quarter with a man down for the remainder of the game. The girls headed back on the field after the half roaring and ready to go against the high pressure Cougars. Annabelle Aquino, Ayla Moffa, and Sophia Green added to the point total in the third quarter to bring the score to 12-11 with a PT lead.  

The final quarter, much like the rest of the game showed to be a battle to the finish, with each team vying for the win. Aquino drew multiple free positions and pushed her way to the net to score 2 more goals for her team. Goaltender, Madison Hagan, utilized her quick decision making skills to help fend off the Cougars. The game winner at 1:35 was scored by Senior captain, Sophia Green, with an assist from Ayla Moffa. The Warriors move on to play the Mars Fightin’ Planets on Monday, May 20th, at Shaler, 7:45pm in the WPIAL semi-finals!

Warriors Win: 21.00 - 4.00

The Warriors took to the road for a section game at Greensburg Central Catholic to battle the Centurions. This game concluded their regular season. The Warriors came out strong, with 10 goals in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the girls put 6 more in the net. 4 more goals were scored in the third quarter and 1 more in the fourth, bringing the final score to 21-4. Today’s game was a milestone for Sophomore, attacker, Georgia Vislocky who achieved her 100th career point. Freshman, midfielder, Marissa Botti scored her first varsity goal of the season. The Warriors are waiting to hear about the WPIAL Playoff seeding and looking forward to the start of playoffs next week.

Warriors Win: 14.00 - 5.00

The Warriors hosted the Winchester Thurston Bears tonight for their last regular season home game. It was also a night to celebrate and showcase our seniors: Issie Costellic, Sophia Green, Morgan McBriar, Rylee Vovaris, and Lauren Yankes. The girls got off on the right foot ending the first quarter with a 4-1 lead. Senior, Sophia Green, scored two goals along with Ayla Moffa and Annabelle Aquino who each got one in the net during the first quarter. Annabelle Aquino had two free position shots in the second quarter and planted both of them perfectly. Ayla Moffa, Avery Bosack, and Georgia Vislocky each had a goal in the second quarter bringing the score to 9-2 at the end of the first half. Ayla Moffa kicked off the third quarter with a goal. Followed up by a sweet assist from senior, Morgan McBriar, to fellow senior Sophia Green. Madi Gavrish came out strong in the last quarter scoring on a free position and from an assist off of defender, Maura Spadone. The girls celebrated their 14-5 win after the game as they recognized and honored their senior teammates. The regular season finale will be at Greensburg Central Catholic on Wednesday 5/8 at 4 PM. Then the girls will wait for the playoff bracket to be released.

Warriors Lose: 5.00 - 6.00

It was a hard fought battle for the section title tonight as the Warriors faced off against the Indians on PT home turf. The Warriors started off with a free position scored by Georgia Vislocky, followed by a goal from Sophia Green, assisted by Ayla Moffa. Another free position goal was scored by Green, ending the first quarter 3-0. Two more free position goals were made in the second quarter by Vislocky and Green bringing the score to 5-4. The second half proved to be a defensive battle. Midfielders, Ayla Moffa, Annabelle Aquino, and Adalyn Hawk applied pressure and helped support the defensive line (Gianna Botti, Mary Brobst, Maura Spadone, and Ceci Doughty). They were able to lock down Indiana’s top scorers holding the score to 5-5 in the third quarter. Lily Crenshaw and Avery Bosack disrupted the Indiana defense in their attempts to clear the ball. Goaltender, Madison Hagan, shined bright tonight as she tended the net having 11 crucial saves that kept Indiana’s potent offense at bay. Indiana took the lead with 2:46 left in the game. The Warriors fought to the finish, but came away one goal short for a final score of 6-5. The Warriors take on Winchester Thurston in a home game and Senior Night  recognition on Monday, 5/6, JV at 6:30 and Varsity at 8:00.

Warriors Win: 16.00 - 4.00

The Warriors welcomed the Greater Latrobe Wildcats Wednesday night for a section match up. The offensive line came out strong putting up ten goals in the first quarter of the night. Ayla Moffa kicked off the night with a successful free position shot. Followed up by fellow midfielder, Annabelle Aquino, who finessed two back to back goals. Lily Crenshaw found S. Green on the field and assisted her in her first goal of the night. Green landed three more goals in the net during the first quarter marking her 150th career goal! Ayla Moffa and Annabelle Aquino both ended the quarter with a hatrick. The defense and goaltender, Madison Hagan, kept the Wildcats to a shut out during the first half. Lily Crenshaw (1), Georgia Vislocky (2), and Rylee Vovaris(1) each added to the scoreboard. Freshman defender, Mary Brobst, assisted fellow Maura Spadone for the only goal of the third quarter bringing the score to 15-1. The final goal of the night was scored by Mary Brobst. The Warriors walked off the field with a 16-4 section win over Latrobe and are gearing up to face off against Indiana Thursday night at 6:00.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Oakland Catholic High School

Warriors Win: 17.00 - 6.00

The Warriors traveled to the bluff Tuesday night to take on the Oakland Central Catholic Eagles. The first quarter ended in a 3-3 tie with the first goal scored by Avery Bosack (assisted by Georgia Vislocky), the second goal scored by Georgia Vislocky, and the third goal scored by Annabelle Aquino (assisted by Sophia Green). The Warriors took the lead in the second quarter escalating the score to 11-4 as Lily Crenshaw controlled the draw circle with 6 draw wins. The offense caught fire with four goals scored by Sophia Green, two goals by Georgia Vislocky, and one each for Ayla Moffa and Lily Crenshaw. Three more goals were added to the scoreboard in the third quarter to make the score 14-6 (Annabelle Aquino, Georgia Vislocky and Ayla Moffa with one goal each.) Sophia Green (assisted by Lily Crenshaw,) Avery Bosack (assisted by Adalyn Hawk) and Madi Gavrish each scored a goal in the fourth quarter. The defense, (Mary Brobst, Maura Spadone, Ceci Doughty, Gianna Botti and Mallory Bachar) not to be outdone by the offense, limited a skilled Oakland Catholic offense to 6 goals. Goaltender, Madison Hagan, came up big with 8 saves. The Warriors went home with a section win and a final score of 17-6. The team will return home on Wednesday, May 1st to take on Greater Latrobe in another section battle. JV at 6:00 PM and Varsity to follow at 7:30 PM.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Franklin Regional High School Recap

Warriors Win: 13.00 - 3.00

The Warriors came ready for a battle with neighboring district, Franklin Regional, Wednesday night at home. The first quarter ended in a 3-0 lead by the Warriors with two goals scored by Avery Bosack (one assisted by S. Green) and a goal scored by Sophia Green (assisted by Georgia Vislocky). The defensive line (G. Botti, M. Spadone, M. Brobst, and C. Doughty) and goaltender, Madison Hagan, held the Panthers to nearly a shut out in the first half by only letting up one goal as the second quarter ended with a score of 7-1. Freshman, Madi Gavrish, found the sweet spot in the net along with Ayla Moffa who each racked up a goal. Annabelle Aquino did her thang and maneuvered two into the net (assist by S. Green and Ayla Moffa). A. Aquino and A. Bosack were back at it again as they each tallied up another goal (both assisted by G. Vislocky). Defensive Midfielder, Adalyn Hawk, helped tame the Panthers in transition by dialing in on the their top scorer, applying pressure, and forcing turnovers along side teammate Ayla Moffa. The final push came in the last quarter with goals from Madi Gavrish (assisted by Moffa), Annabelle Aquino, Avery Bosack, and Lily Crenshaw (assisted by Bosack). Final score: 13-3. The girls are amping up for a four game week next week! Plenty of time to come out and watch these beauties shine!

Warriors Win: 24.00 - 6.00

The Warriors ascended into the Lion’s den tonight for another section match up and came out on top. The girls came out hot ending the first quarter with a 13-0 lead over the Lions. The girls racked up four more goals in the second quarter leading the Greensburg Salem Lions 17-2 at the half. The bench ran deep tonight as a variety of players clocked time on the field. Mallory Bachar, Mia Prosdocimo, and Chloe Sperduto had their first Varsity goals of the season. Junior midfielder, Ayla Moffa, switched up her stick and spent some time defending the net while, goaltender Madison Hagan, moved down to Attack during the final quarter of the game. The girls went home with a 24-6 win against the Lions. Come cheer on the Warriors as they match up against Franklin Regional on home turf Wednesday night. JV at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:30.

Warriors Win: 12.00 - 6.00

The Warriors kept the Hampton Talbots on a short leash Monday night in a big section matchup. The first quarter was a tight race out of the gate. Lily Crenshaw assisted Annabelle Aquino in the first goal of the night followed up by two goals from Georgia Vislocky while Hampton put two in the net. The second quarter was another hard fought battle. Ayla Moffa kicked off the second quarter with an assist to Avery Bosack. The second goal of the quarter was planted in the net by Sophia Green, raising the score to 5-4 at the end of the half. The defensive line (Doughty, Bachar, G. Botti, and Spadone) held strong and limited the Talbots to four goals in the first half. The third quarter opened up with a goal from Avery Bosack (assisted by Georgia Vislocky) and a mean shot fired off by Annabelle Aquino. Ayla Moffa came out strong in the last quarter scoring two goals and assisting on a goal to Sophia Green. Sophia Green capped off her goal total of the night by scoring a free position and a goal (assisted by Lily Crenshaw). There were many contributors on the field tonight. Lily Crenshaw came out on top with 6 ground balls along with Adalyn Hawk who had three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and multiple successful clears to get the ball in the offensive zone. Annabelle Aquino controlled the flow of the offensive game by dominating on the draw circle all night. The girls celebrated their 12-6 victory on the bus ride home along with goaltender, Madison Hagan’s, 16th birthday! The girls match up against Indiana on Wednesday, 4/17 at home in the biggest game of the season yet! Join us for a Varsity only game at 7:30.

Warriors Win: 11.00 - 3.00

The Warriors reigned in the Plum Mustangs tonight on home turf as they earned a huge win against last year’s section champs. In the first half of the game, the Warriors defense shut down the Mustangs and held them to zero goals while the offense took to the net and scored 3 (Georgia Vislocky (2) and Lily Crenshaw (1) assisted by Sophia Green.) Goaltender, Madison Hagan gave a stellar performance, making 7 saves and was patient and efficient with her clearing game. The defense, (Cecilia (Ceci) Doughty, Mary Brobst, Maura Spadone and Gianna Botti) rose to the challenge by shutting down Plum’s high powered offense and played brilliantly in the transition game.  

In the second half, the girls changed their focus and exploded on the offensive side of the field, going on a 4 goal run in the third quarter, leaving the score 7-1 (Sophia Green (3) two of them being assisted by Adalyn Hawk and Lily Crenshaw, and Avery (Aves) Bosack (1.) The fourth quarter was more of the same dominating team effort with 4 more goals scored by Georgia Vislocky (1), Sophia Green (1), Annabelle Aquino (1) and Avery (Aves) Bosack (1), assisted by Ayla Moffa. Special shoutout to our midfielders, Annabelle Aquino, Ayla Moffa, and Adalyn Hawk for locking down Plum’s high scoring midfield unit. Tonight’s win was a total team effort with each player filling their role. The Warriors stormed the field to celebrate their victory with a final  score of 11-3. 

The girls travel to Hampton on Monday, 4/15 for another big section matchup with JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 6:45.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Hempfield Area High School

Warriors Win: 17.00 - 5.00

It was all about the ladies tonight on the lacrosse field as the team celebrated Youth Night and welcomed the Hempfield Spartans to Warrior Stadium. The Lady Warriors kicked off the night with their highest first quarter point total of the season with a lead of 10-1 at the end of the first quarter. It was a battle of the attackers with each of the four attackers scoring a hatrick tonight. They also provided assists for their teammates; Sophia Green (1 assist), Georgia Vislocky (3 assists), Avery Bosack (2 assists), and Lily Crenshaw (2 assists). Midfielder, Annabelle Aquino, also racked up a hatrick for tonight’s game along with 5 draw controls. Adalyn Hawk landed one in the net and had 3 caused turnovers. Abby Baughman had a goal and an assist and Madi Gavrish finished with 2 assists and 2 caused turnovers. 

The defense kept the field hot on a frigid Spring night with Gianna Botti scooping 2 ground balls, causing a turnover, and providing an assist. Maura Spadone led the defense with 3 caused turnovers and Mallory Bachar showed her abilities on offense in the role of attacker as well as playing lockdown defense. Marissa Botti and Mary Brobst were superb on the draw circle, each collecting two draw control wins. The Warriors came out of the matchup with a win and a final score of 17-5. Join the team Wednesday night, 4/10, as they battle it out with the Plum Mustangs on home turf. JV at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:30.

Warriors Win: 16.00 - 3.00

The PT Girls Lacrosse team hosted The Ellis School in their second section matchup of the season. The skies cleared and the rain stopped just in time for the girls to take their first draw of the night. Annabelle Aquino led the team tonight with 3 goals, 1 assist, multiple draw controls and ground balls. Followed up by Adalyn Hawk who scored 2 goals, had several draw controls, and multiple caused turnovers.  Lily Crenshaw came in clutch with 3 goals, 1 assist, and a plethora of ground balls. Mary Brobst, Rylee Vovaris, and Chloe Sperduto also supported their team tonight by gathering up ground balls on the turf. The mic was hot tonight shining a spotlight on plenty of girls on the team as they added points to the scoreboard: Sophia Green (2), Georgia Vislocky (2 goals and 3 assists), Avery Bosack (2 goals and 2 assists), Maura Spadone (1), and a special shout out to Freshman Josalyn (Jos) Show on her first varsity goal!  The defense, led by Gianna Botti and goaltender, Madison Hagan did a good job limiting Ellis’ attack. Plenty of players added to the stat sheet tonight making this a true team effort, ending the game with a final score of 16-3 in their second section win. The Warriors take on the Hempfield Spartans and will be celebrating Youth Night on Friday, 4/5, with JV playing at 6:00, followed by Varsity at 7:30.

Warriors Win: 11.00 - 10.00

They don’t call it a backyard brawl for nothin’! Penn-Trafford girls lacrosse took on the Norwin Knights tonight in a non-section nail biter of a matchup. The Warriors stormed the castle, bringing home a victory by defeating Norwin 11-10. Annabelle Aquino played fiercely against the Knights, by scoring 3 goals, assisting on 2 and had 6 draw controls. Sophia Green showed up by putting 3 in the net and assisting on 2. Georgia Vislocky came to play, scoring 3 goals and assisting on 1. Avery (Aves) Bosack put 2 goals on the board, totaling 11 goals for the Warriors. Ayla Moffa, sprinted all over the field, scooping 6 ground balls, had 3 draw controls and 3 caused turnovers. Our defense showed off their powerful skills with Mary Brobst having 1 caused turnover and 1 ground ball and Adalyn Hawk with 2 caused turnovers and 1 ground ball. Goaltender, Madison Hagan stood tall in the cage and added a caused turnover to her stat tally. Penn-Trafford  takes on The Ellis School in a Varsity only game at Warrior Stadium on Wednesday, 4/3 at 7:00pm.

Warriors Win: 18.00 - 5.00

The rainy weather didn’t stop the Warriors from bringing home a win in their first section game against the Yough Cougars, with a final score of 18-5. Annabelle Aquino came out strong on the draw circle, tallying up 7 draw controls. Sophia Green led all scorers with 3 goals. Adding to the score board were Georgia Vislocky (1 goal, 2 assists), Lily Crenshaw (1 goal, 2 assists), Ayla Moffa (2 goals, 2 assists), Annabelle Aquino (2 goals), Avery Bosack (2 goals, 1 assist), Madi Gavrish (1 goal), Rylee Vovaris (2 goals, 1 assist), Megan Kamzalow (1 goal), and Abby Baughman (1 goal). Additional assists made by Maura Spadone (3), Morgan McBriar (1), Mary Brobst (1 assist) and led the team with (3 caused turnovers). Defensive player, Gianna Botti, made her first offensive debut of the season when she subbed in at Attack, scoring two goals. Goaltender, Madison Hagan had another solid performance in the cage with 4 saves. The Warriors hit the road again, taking on the Norwin Knights in a non-section backyard battle on Thursday, 3/28. JV at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:15.

Warriors Lose: 8.00 - 12.00

The girls battled until the end tonight, but unfortunately fell to Canon-McMillan with a final score of 12-8. It was a dog fight in the midfield with draws being won equally by both teams. Annabelle Aquino, Ayla Moffa, and Sophia Green represented the green and gold with multiple draw wins. Moffa along with Avery Bosack, Mary Brobst, and Ceci Doughty helped keep the ball in the offensive zone by racking up several caused turnovers. 

Green took home a hat-trick, followed up by Georgia Vislocky who scored two goals. Annabelle Aquino left her mark on the field tonight as she picked up every ground ball in sight, which led to one goal and one assist. Ayla Moffa and Lily Crenshaw contributed to the score total by each placing one goal in the net. Goaltender, Madison Hagan, had two well played back to back games. Hagan shut down nine shots on goal tonight! 

The Warriors will be on the road Tuesday, 3/26, to take on Yough HS at 4:00 PM for their first section game.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Peters Township High School

Warriors Win: 10.00 - 9.00

The girls put on quite the show for the 23-24 season home opener against Peters Township winning 10-9. The defensive line (Gianna Botti, Mallory Bachar, Mary Brobst and Ceci Doughty) put on a stellar performance as they helped keep the score close throughout each quarter. 

Annabelle Aquino dominated the draw circle with 10 draw controls and an assist throughout the game which helped put the ball in the offensive end of the field. Sophia Green led her team with five goals and an assist to Lily Crenshaw. Ayla Moffa was all over the field scooping up ground balls and ended up with two goals, each off of a free position shot. Georgia Vislocky (1) and Avery Bosack (1) both added to the 10-9 final score. 

Goaltender, Madison Hagan (6 Saves), came in clutch tonight with multiple high pressure saves. Maura Spadone (1 caused turnover) was the ultimate utility player, logging minutes at Defense, Attack and Midfield. 

The girls match up against Canon-Mac Thursday night (3/21) at home under the lights. JV starts at 6:00 Varsity at 7:30.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Baldwin High School

Warriors Win: 14.00 - 3.00

The Penn-Trafford Girls Lacrosse team took home a road win for their second of the season after defeating Baldwin, 14-3. Despite the cold temperatures, the girls had a solid performance on the field. Annabelle Aquino and Sophia Green led the team with goals as they both landed four in the net. Goals were also scored by Ayla Moffa (2), Lily Crenshaw, Maura Spadone and first varsity goals by Freshman Avery (Aves) Bosack(2). Georgia Vislocky (2), Madi Gavrish and Avery Bosack tallied assists.

Once again the defense was stout this time only allowing 3 goals. Cece Doughty and Gianna Botti played superb team defense and Marissa Botti picked up 2 ground balls. Madison Hagan had another strong showing in goal with 3 saves. 

The Girls are looking forward to their home opener against Peters Township on Wednesday 3/30. JV will begin at 6, Varsity to follow at 7:30.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Butler High-School

Warriors Win: 14.00 - 4.00

The girls’ lacrosse team kicked off their season with their first game in Butler against the Golden Tornadoes. Winter-like weather was back Friday night, but that didn’t stop PT from winning big with a final score of 14-4. Penn-Trafford started off strong with Annabelle Aquino leading the way with seven draw control wins.

The offense showed up and took charge! Goals were scored by, Senior, Sophia Green (4) Sophomore, Annabelle Aquino (3 and 1 assist) Sophomore, Georgia Vislocky (3 and 1 assist) Junior, Ayla Moffa (1 and 2 assists) Senior, Rylee Vovaris (1) and first varsity goals by Freshman Lily Crenshaw (1) and Maddi Gavrish (1)

The defense stayed hot on the cold night by causing 12 turnovers. Junior, Maura Spadone led with three caused turnovers and added two assists. Freshman, Avery (Aves) Bosack was a ground ball machine, leading the way with eight ground ball possessions. Sophomore, Madison Hagan stayed big in the cage holding Butler to only four goals. 

PT Warriors are looking forward to hitting the road again Monday, March 18, 2024, traveling to Baldwin, to take on the Fighting Highlanders in a Varsity only matchup at 6:30.
