GREATER LATROBE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 4
The sun was shining a spotlight on our Seniors Wednesday night as the girls matched up against the Latrobe Wildcats at Warrior Stadium. The Warriors are graduating eight seniors this year, all of whom took the field to start the game. Senior, Ceci Doughty, is out due to injury unfortunately. Luckily, she was able to take the field with her fellow seniors for the first draw of the night. The Warriors led the Wildcats in a 5-1 lead after the first quarter with goals scored by Georgia Vislocky (1),Ayla Moffa (3), Annabelle Aquino (1), and Adalyn Hawk (1).
The second quarter kicked off with Ayla Moffa racking up two more goals while, Madi Gavrish found Senior, Megan Kamzalow, in front of the net for a well timed goal. Moffa scored her last goal of the night which put her at a total of five goals for the evening. Madi Gavrish scored the last goal of the half leaving the Warriors with an 8 point lead over the Wildcats! Senior, Mia Welsch, helped control the defensive end of the field.
There were a sea of seniors on the field during the third quarter who were actively trying to find the net. Madison Heinack and Gianna Escobar took several shots on net, but unfortunately were stopped by Latrobe’s goaltender. Senior, Maura Spadone, took a few turns on the draw circle helping her team gain possession of the ball. The Warriors kept the lead at the end of the 3rd with a score of 10-3.
The final goal of the night came from senior defender, Gianna Botti, who switched roles and got some playing time on the offensive end of the field. It was a beautiful night to honor all of our senior athletes for all of their accomplishments both on and off the field. We wish them well in their next adventure in life!
