The Warriors started the week off with a home game against the Hempfield Spartans on Monday night. Our Varsity welcomed a few youth players for the night as they took on the role of honorary captain and Jr. Media Reporter. Stay tuned for the upcoming broadcast!
Senior, Megan Kamzalow, kicked off the game with the first goal of the night. Georgia Vislocky and Ayla Moffa were the next two players to contribute to the scoreboard with each girl scoring off of a free position goal. Annabelle Aquino had the last two goals of the quarter ending the quarter with a 6-1 lead over the Spartans.
Our defensive line didn’t let up any goals in the second quarter. Junior, Adalyn Hawk, started off the second quarter with a low angle goal. Hawk was followed up by an assist from Ayla Moffa to Annabelle Aquino for her second goal of the night. Ayla Moffa earned herself another point by scoring the last goal of the half. The Warriors led the Spartans 9-1.
Adalyn Hawk, Ayla Moffa, and Annabelle Aquino dominated control of the ball on the draw circle. Ayla Moffa found Adalyn Hawk right in the middle of the alley which led to Hawk’s second goal of the night. Attacker, Abby Baughman, found Ayla Moffa in the perfect spot and helped Moffa earn a hatrick for the night.
Defender, Maura Spadone, traded her typical spot on the defensive end of the field for a spot on attack. She was able to find the net twice and earn two goals for her team. The defensive line continued to hold the Spartans to zero goals in the third quarter with caused turnovers from CeCi Doughty, Mary Brobst, and Gianna Botti.
Botti also switched to the offensive end of the field and served up a well timed assist to fellow defender, Mary Brobst, off of the 8 meter line. A. Aquino had her final goal of the night earning herself another point for a hatrick plus one. The girls will travel to Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday night to face off against the undefeated Blue Devils.
