The Warriors took on the Plum Mustangs in an intense matchup at an away game Monday night. The first quarter was a defensive battle ending 2-1 with PT down by one. Avery Bosack had the first goal of the night off of a free position shot.
The second quarter told a different story as both teams battled for offensive possession. Adalyn Hawk, Ayla Moffa, and Avery Bosack controlled the draw at the beginning of the game until Bosack unfortunately went out with an injury after her second free position goal of the night. Two more free position goals were scored in the second quarter by Ayla Moffa. Georgia Vislocky got her first goal of the night along with an assist from Adalyn Hawk to Madi Gavrish. The Warriors were up by one at the half with a score of 6-5.
The Warriors held the Mustangs to zero goals in the third quarter with big defensive plays by Gianna Botti, Mary Brobst, Marissa Botti, and Adalyn Hawk. Goaltender, Madison Hagan, worked with her defensive unit to shut down several Plum attackers. The Warriors were in the lead 8-5 at the end of the third with goals scored by Ayla Moffa and Georgia Vislocky.
The Mustangs took the lead with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter 10-9. The Warriors were able to force a turnover in the defensive end and clear the ball, generating a fast break where Georgia Vislocky was able to draw a free position and score with 3 seconds left to send the game to over time tied 10-10.
Although the Warriors didn’t win the first draw in over time, they gained possession of the ball with some more great defensive play and a save which led to Ayla Moffa drawing a free position. Moffa scored the golden goal and the Warriors took home the 11-10 section win against Plum.
