Warriors Win Regular Season Finale At Latrobe 20-13

The Warriors closed out the 2024 regular season with a close 20-13 conference victory at Latrobe. PT jumped out to an early 14-0 first quarter lead on a 9 yard Tasso Whipple run and 22 yard Derek Carr interception return TD. Latrobe rebounded on a one yard John Wetzel run to bring the Wildcats within 7. Freshman Jack Miller kicked a 34 yard field goal as time expired in the half to extend the Warriors lead to 17-7 at halftime. Latrobe also had an interception return touchdown, a 52 yarder by Andy Tatsch to cut the PT lead to 17-13 in the third. The Warriors drained the clock on the ground in the second half, controlling the time of possession and keeping the Wildcats off the field. Miller kicked another field goal from 27 yards to put the Warriors on top 20-13.
Senior Tasso Whipple rushed 29 times for 163 yards, moving him past Manny Simpson into fourth place on the all-time leading rusher list at PT. Owen Gisi led the team with four catches for 25 yards. Jamison Yurt was the leading tackler with seven.
Next Friday the Warriors will host the South Fayette Lions in the first round of the WPIAL 5A playoffs at Warrior Stadium. Kickoff is at 7pm.
