Penn-Trafford won the Victory Bell for the first time since 2021 in a 32-13 Big East Conference win at Gateway. Tasso Whipple led the team with 249 yards on 28 carries. PT opened the scoring with a 53 yard touchdown catch by Jack Weishaar from Jonny Lovre. Derek Carr's two point run gave PT the first quarter lead. Lovre then scored from a yard out to put the Warriors ahead 15-0 entering halftime. Freshman Jack Miller kicked his first career field goal to give PT an 18-7 lead. In the fourth quarter Carr scored on a 4 yard run followed by another Weishaar touchdown catch, this time from 7 yards out. Michael Cheplick opened the second half with a huge 86 yard kickoff return.
Defensively the Warriors controlled the ball for most of the second half after a Whipple interception and a Jessie Lisbon fumble recovery off the kickoff. Jamison Yurt, who's big hit caused the Gateway fumble, led the team with 11 tackles. Tyler Boss also had an interception for PT.
Whipple reached some big milestones in the win. He moved past Cade Yacamelli into 5th place on the Penn-Trafford all-time rushing yard list. He also went over the 1,000 yard mark for the season.
Next week the Warriors return home to face the Franklin Regional Panthers on Senior Night. Kickoff is at 7pm.
