The Penn Trafford Warriors Wrestling Team touted a 3-2 record at the Kiski Duals on Saturday

Match 1: vs Peters Township (Loss 41-30)

Match 2: vs Kiski Area (Loss 45-22)

Match 3: vs Hempfield Area (Win 45-12)

Match 4: vs Yough (Win 59-12)

Match 5: vs Waynesburg Central (Win 52-12)

Evan Awai showed grit in his match against Peters Township finishing his day 0-1 in duals. With holes in the lineup, Evan stepped into the 121 pound weight class showing a hard handfight until getting stuck on his back.

Dylan Barrett goes 5-0 on the day, receiving bonus points in each of his matches. Barrett started the day bumping up to 127 lbs, showcasing a high pace flurry of takedowns leading to a technical fall. He never looked back from there, dominating in his final 4 matches of the day. 

Luke Desantis goes 4-1 on the day, he began his day with a technical fall during the dual meet with Peters Township. After a hard fought loss in the dual with fellow WPIAL powerhouse Kiski Area, Luke bounced back to receive bonus points for the Warriors in his final match, then receiving two forfeits.

Logan Ventura played a key role, wrestling both in the 133 and 139 pound weight classes. After two losses, Logan battled in his final 3 matches showcasing his abilities from the top position and fighting in every position to finish on a high note for the day. 

Gino Pecora was a leader of his own, despite being a freshman on the team putting together a perfect 4-0 record. Three of those matches he secured bonus points for the team, and continuing the momentum at the lighter weights for the Warriors. 

Sidney Hand stepped up during the Kiski match going 1-0 on the day, putting a pace on his opponent that eventually landed him a win by pinfall to secure 6 team points.

Dylan Clayton made his season debut at 152 pounds, going 4-1 on the day, putting a spotlight on a hard nosed, aggressive style of wrestling. After a bit of a rocky start losing to Peters Township, he finished his next three matches with bonus points, and receiving a forfeit victory.

Cael Ott finished the day going 3-2. After a strong start against Peters Township, Ott ran into a setback losing to Kiski and coming up short in a flurry against Hempfield Area. He showed his resilience on the mat, finishing his final two matches in the first period.

Logan Matrisch had a strong showing, looking to put points on the board and going 3-2. After two losses early on, Matrisch put a statement on his final three matches in dominant fashion scoring back to back pinfalls and a technical fall to close the day.

Tasso Whipple had a powerful showing, going 5-0 on the day. Four out of five of his matches ended before the final buzzer, and he continues to bring intensity and high action wrestling. In his match against Kiski, Whipple came out on top of a battle of wills securing a major decision victory. 

Ben Grabowski ended his day with a 2-3 record. Ben’s unorthodox style landed him in the heavyweight bout against Peters Township with the hopes that bonus points could lead to the dual meet victory, falling to a much larger opponent. From there, he fought hard against two top wrestlers in the state but was able to bounce back and land a victory in the Yough match as well as receiving a forfeit.

Jamison Yurt came out strong in his match against Peters Township going 1-0 on the day. He was playing no games, getting a quick takedown and finishing the match in the first period with a pinfall.

Aiden Toth keeps improving and making strides at the 285 weight class. He finished his day at 1-3, highlighted by a 2-0 tightly contested victory in his match against Hempfield. 

Strong showings were also had in exhibition matches by Evan Awai, Gino Pecora, Seth Pochiba, Bryce Klingensmith, Brayden Desantis, Jamison Yurt, and Ben Grabowski.
