Penn Trafford Lacrosse Association began in 2011 with just a single team. In the past 9 years it has grown and this 2020 season we were able to field about 8 teams from youth to varsity levels.
Our Penn-Trafford Ladies Lacrosse Team began 5 years ago as a club team and one year later in 2017 became a W.P.I.A.L. recognized team. From then, the growth of women’s lacrosse has been exhibited in ability, commitment and number. This year our ladies team grew to over 30 players. This group of hard working and dedicated athletes includes three players who have committed to play lacrosse in college.
Lauren Turkovich played lacrosse at PTHS for 3 years and lettered. She was a team captain. Additionally, she plays on a club volleyball team. Lauren plans to attend St. Vincent College and play lacrosse and volleyball.
Rachel Thatcher played lacrosse at PTHS for 4 years and lettered all four years. Additionally, she played on a club team and attended several camps and tournaments. Rachel was a team captain this year and plans to attend St. Vincent College and play lacrosse.
Rachel and Lauren will be joining Rachel’s sister and PTHS alum lacrosse player Karah Thatcher (2019) on the St. Vincent team.
Vivian Somes played lacrosse at PTHS for 4 years and lettered all four years. Additionally, she was on a state level 2019 and 2020 travel team. Vivian was a team captain this year and plans to attend Baldwin Wallace University and play lacrosse.
We are so proud of these girls and all of our seniors who have helped immensely in building this women’s program. Your attitudes, willingness and skill are like none other and the keystone of this growing organization. We wish the seniors the very best in their next steps.
In closing, we would like to thank the Penn Trafford Lacrosse Association, parents, coaching staff, athletic director, athletic secretary, training offices, maintenance and security teams for your support of ladies lacrosse. We are looking forward to good things! Warrior Strong! And PT Proud!
